Patrick Kennedy approached the Deep Ellum Foundation with an idea and an opportunity. With TxDOT planning to lower I-30 between Deep Ellum and Fair Park, could allow for a re-think of a problematic street network and confusing wayfinding from the highway. By re-working the on- and off-ramps to influence the surrounding street grid, the confluence of roads at Canton, Exposition, and Main Street could be redesigned for improved safety, clear wayfinding, and finding additional excess right-of-way to enhance economic development opportunities.
